Help us reach our goal of 30 individual and business sponsors in 2015.

Overview

For over 25 years, the Childhood Language Center has provided speech and language therapy to children and their families across West Virginia, regardless of their ability to pay. Our mission is to help children communicate and succeed by providing high quality therapy that involves the entire family.

An average of 118 children walk through our doors annually, from more than 10 counties across Central and Southern West Virginia, to participate in therapy. Unfortunately, we still have a constant waiting list of 15-25 children that are in need of the services offered by the CLC.

What is this program?

Children facing challenges expressing their needs, wants, ideas because of conditions such as apraxia, autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome are benefiting from the services the Center offers. Currently the Center has one full-time and three partā€time therapists.

Cost

A gift of $2,500 would provide one year of therapy to a child in need. This includes 50 half-hour one-on-one therapy sessions, as well as the participation in group therapy and our week-long summer camp.

Who Does this Support?

The children who come to the CLC have a multitude of difficulties including apraxia, autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, hearing impairments and articulation disorders. We currently have one full-time and two part-time therapists on staff working with the children on speech, language, swallowing and feeding therapies.

Options for support

  • Individual gift to sponsor a child for one year
  • Sponsor a Child team approach. (A group of people or an office can come together and split the cost to collectively sponsor a child)
  • Payment options are available
